90k service...advise
Our 03 Disco has an extended warranty until Dec. 09 or 100k. It now has 85k and has been serviced at our dealer for all services to include oil changes.
Our plans have always been to trade the beast in Dec. but with today's economy we may wait till spring or even summer depending on the economy. Nada lists the beast at $5k trade in.
The dealership wants $1,000 for the 90k service. My questions are;
If we don't do the service is the warranty void?
Would you do the service knowing your going to trade soon anyway?
You thoughts?

You must keep up with at least the recommended fluid changes, or loose part of your warrnty if there is a failure which they can show th lack of service caused the problem.
How mechanical are you, you can do the service your self for $200 give or take.

You dont need the dealer to do these services.
Any shop can do them, as long as you have receipts you are covered.
Jiffy Lube can change your oil for you, just keep the receipts.
They can also change your driveline fluids.
Look in the "Passport to Service" part of your owners manual and it will tell you what needs to be done and when.
All you really need are oil and filter changes, the fluid in both the front and rear differentials and the transfer case.
The coolant flushed and the brake fluid flushed.
As for what to do and not to do because you are going to trade it in...dont screw the next guy.
Do what needs to be done when it needs to be done.
After you trade it in all the dealer is going to do is send it to auction, he wont sell it because of the miles, a small time used car lot will buy it at auction, wash it and then dump it on some poor unsuspecting person who doesnt realize that they are buying a neglected Disco.
We see it on here all the time.
"Help, I just bought this truck and..."
"I bought this a month ago and now the..."
"The dealer screwed me, please help me with..."
Dont be one of those people.
