94/95 D1 Getting fuel ?
Hello, I really like this site. I'm Steve, excited new owner of a Rover.I found this vehicle that the old owner said it sat for over a year. He said he would start every couple of weeks. Then he said it just wouldn't start,he thought "maybe a fuel pump". I thought OK no problem,Trailered it back home,Replaced the battery.Added 5 gal. of Premium fuel and tried to start the Rover. It turns over but sound like its not getting fuel.THEN I found this site and started reading,WoW,I see there is a lot of work ahead of me. At this point I'de like to just get it started to see what kind of shape its in. Ive checked the fuse by the battery,I've unpluged the connector and inspected pins on the fuel pump,Found the Relays but don't know how to test them..Any help would greatly be appreciated.. I know I've read up on all the things needed to be replaced on any Used Rover and agree. If I can get it running. Thanks Steve in Austin...94 or 95 Discovery,130,000 miles,Second owner. PS I don't think there was any gas in the vehicle when I got it. Does that make it more dificult,Re-priming the fuel system or any thing???

Do you hear the fuel pump when you put the switch on? No, you need a new pump (I assume you checked the fuses) If yes, check the fuel lines for leaks, and change the fuel filter.
Check if there is fuel on the plugs, if yes, it gets fuel and your ignition is bad. If not, at this point I would think about bad injectors but I don't think all 8 can go bad within a year. This is what I would check, if you still have a problem, someone else will have to chime in.
If you can get it running, check the general condition and do the 60k maintenance if the truck is worth it.
Welcome to the forum.

Here is what I would do.
Remove the air intake hose from the throttlebody, spary a buch of carb cleaner into the intake, replace the hose and see if it will start.
There is a schrader valve on the fuel rail, press it, does fuel come out?
Remove a spark plug, do you have spark?

Thanks a lot Guys. I Don't hear the pump, and Don't have pressure at the rail. I did check the fuse, and was hoping to test the relays if possible,or if i knew "Which wires in the harness for the fuel pump" to test for power. I'de hate to buy a fuel pump if its just not getting power to it. All of your responces are Greatly appreciated. I can't wait to see what a "jewel in the rough" I have. THANKS Again. Not sure which wires are the hot ones for the fuel pump, but I take it you have found it? Might have to get a hleper to turn the key on and off while you test each lead.
Might change the fuel filter while you are working on it. It is under the rear passenger wheel well, right on top of the frame. That will also tell you if there is fuel in the lines.
How much fuel is in it?
