Default 95 Disco Purchase ????

Hey all. I am looking at a 1995 Disco with 128K on it. My main question with her is that when started she revs up to 2,ooo RPM. I researched it and I have come up with a bad Idle Control Valve? Could this be due to anything else? I am seriously considering this vehicle but don't want to get into a Disco that needs a ton of work. Anything else to pay attention to when looking at this year?

Thanks!

idk about the first question but for what to look for when buying them ive been told:

leaky/faulty sunroof
messed up windows(motors, regulators,etc.)
rear cargo door wont open
sagging headliner
diff lock stuck
leather seats torn
bad fluid leaks

thats really all i know and im looking at buying a 96 so good luck hopefully well both be proud disco owners soon ha

Alright, keep in mind that Land rovers sit at the bottom of the reliability list when new, and this truck is 15 years old. So you can't expect to have a new car. It is wise to ask, but keep your wallet close by. I'm not telling you to pass, but unless you are pretty handy with tools and like taking care of a vehicle as a hobby........Let Spike coach you around.

Good luck,

Steph

Most likely culprit is a IACV, other thing could be a vacuum leak, TPS or a ECU problem.
The most expensive part is the IACV at $250 if I remember right.
But it may just be it needs cleaning.

Thanks guys. It looks like I may pull the trigger on her tomorrow. I found a wrecked Disco II at a junk yard who has the front seats and rear bench like new for $400. I am going to see if the headliner is the same fit for Disco I and II then I will grab that too! She runs and shifts great and doesn't blow any smoke. Only the high idle RPM problem from what I can tell.

The DII is longer and wider than the DI.

No the seats are not a direct fit, the fronts can be moded to work, but the seat anchors are different as well as the tracks the seats move on.
The rear seats are a no go no matter what, they are too wide, you will never close the rear doors.
Over all the DII is 6" wider than a DI and almost 12" longer.
(somebody please correct me if I am wrong)
The wheelbase is the same, 100", but the body with and length are different.

There goes that idea. Guess I need to find someone local parting out a Disco I for an interior!
