96 Disco Diff Lock???
Just bought a 96 Disco SE. The Diff Lock was in High when I bought it. I know that when I take it off-road and at slow speeds I should put it in Low. However, should I put it in Neutral for driving around town and on the Highway? Would it give me better gas milage?
Let me know,
Kyle

Never owned a 4wheeler before I see. Neutral is just that and you don't move.
Keep the truck in high for now. Do you have any friends that own a Rover that can walk you thru what makes the truck tick?

All the way back and to the right is high range with the center diff lock disengaged, all the way forward and to the right is low range and the diff lock disengaged, to engage the diff lock, you move the lever to the left as you slowly roll foward, under 5mph, when it actualy engages, the little light on the dash will light up. You dont want to use the diff lock unless your offroad, or in deep snow/slippery stuff. Mike
Kyle,
If you want to spend a little time on the phone this weekend, I would be glad to try and at least walk you thru some of the important things you should know about your truck before you take it off the road.
Send me your phone number and a good time to call.

I might be wrong but can you not engage the diff lock at any resonable speeds as traction is needed?
