'97 Disco 1 Fails to turn-over & Electrical Probs
OK, so I go to start my Disco and all the normal dash lights come on as I turn the key. Only when I turn it to engage the starter motor I hear a click and all the dash lights turn off. Except for the digital clock none of the electrical components work i.e. horn, alarm, locks etc...So thinking it was the starter I replaced it... Same issue. So I did some more reasearch about the alarm system, immobilization spider, passive coil, emergency key codes etc.. and now I'm totally confused as to what it could be. I can unhook my batt and come back to it in an hour and when I hook it up again I get to the point where I have the dash lightsworking again & the key FOB locks & unlocks the door. At one point during my troubleshooting if you want to call it that I could click on my key FOB and hear a realy in my Alarm ECU clicking alternatly with my horn relay (I'm assuming the alarm was triggered but since the horn wasn't working there was no sound). Please could anyone help me in what to try next, my wife wants her car back, and I want her off mine. Thanks!!

I would go back to the basics again before you go too deep into troubleshooting the alarm system. Generally problems are the result of simple things. After you've absolutely ruled them out, then work backwards towards more complex issues.
QUADRUPLE-CHECKall your battery connections and GROUND connections at the motor. Quadruple-check that your starter and starter solonoid work properly. Hook a jumper cable up to the + on the starter and touch to your battery (be careful when you do this so you don't spark (damage) anything. It should turn the motor over. Also QUADRUPLE-CHECK the battery.

Great advice, Battery Connections are good as are the ground connections, starter works fine also.... I turned the crank manually to ensure the motor wasn't frozen. I can get the door locks to work with the FOB, when I trigger the alarm the alarmECU clicks alternatly with the horn relay but no horn sound. Since the Spider has already been removed I'm left with thinking it's either the alarm ECU, a mysterious/simpleground, or I don't know...
