Default 97 disco spider location?

Hi Guys. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me where the dreaded "spider" is located in my 97 Disco. It isn't behind the radio where everyone says it usually is. Did Land Rover put it in a different location in this particular year? I have read that other people with the same year have had this problem, but havn't gotten an answer. Thanks!

If you bought the vehicle used it may have already been removed.

The dreaded spider is part of the security system and can really f***k you if things happen because it shuts the car down. On the 97 it is under the glove compartment behind a black dash cover with two plastic grommets. It should be a little green box that is your security system that its part of. You can access this by first removing the front bracket bolt and the bracket is hinged so it will come down. Then the Security device is bolted onto this. Much easier than on other discos, where it was mounted behind the radio above the heater core, and you have to take youur dashboard apart to get to it. However that is not a hard task either, if you know where all the screws are and are willing to be patient and not rip it apart.

Ok, I found the green box behind the dash. I don't see anywhere to plug in my bypass harness (AMR 4956) that I got from Land Rover. Did I buy the wrong part from Land Rover? Thanks for everones help so far.

Did your by-pass kit come with instructions?
I have never by-passed one so I do not know exactly where to plug it in at.
You may need to open it up and plug it in on the inside?

Unhappy

The bypass came with no instructions and I can't see anywhere inside the green box where it might plug in at.

I actually never bypassed mine, I replaced it, but yes i believe spike is right, it was located in side. there was a link with all sorts of information on it I came across once. theres a circuit board inside that gets corrupted. Theres also a bunch of harnesses involved with it outside the green box that involves lights front windows relay and the rear windows. If you open the green box I believe thats what your looking for but it is small. im gonna search for the link for you so you can really see how to bypass it.

Try this link, this is a bypass for the spider that just plugs into the harness but it gives you a good look of what it's like. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/stage1v...icalSpider.htm
you could also do something with the board in terms of soldering the broken pieces back together.
