Default 98 Disco electrical problems-TRIPLE THREAT

My 98 Discos running lights, rear tail lights, and dash lights all quit at once. Occaisonally they will all come back on but just about once every 6 months. Tom Wood Dealer in Indianapolis says the wiring harness is rotting out in the pass thru hole in the fire wall. Any thoughts or fixes?

For night time driving my headlamps work and I use my rear fog lights as tail lights, oddly enough my turnsignals work as do the brakelights. I use the map light or a flash light to see the speedometer. Warning tone for leaving headlamps on also doesn't work.

I figure if the dealer can't fix it I am really screwed.

Check your fuse box under the drivers side dash. Use a test light to see if power is going thru BOTH sides of the fuse for your running lights.

welcome to the forum. there is several grounds in the rover. check the grounds. usually four. atlantic british has a tech help section that may have the locations. That is where I got my info. check the owners manual and find a fuses or relay that can effect all the areas if the problem. My first bet would be a ground or loose wire. hope it helps. gotta love a rover.
