Default 98 Disco loud roar

Ive owned this disco for over a year and have not had any problems. Then the other day while driving a roaring noise came from appears to be the drive train. The more you accelerate the louder it gets. Its a weird sound almost like a roar of air.The RPM's havent change any and trainny is shifting fine. There is no performance differance. All fluids have been checked and are fine. The noise get's pretty loud . Any suggestions?

I'd assume the exhaust manifold is cracked. I had a '97 and had one replaced under recall, and the other replaced later. Good luck.

Since you say it get louder while accelerating (under load), so most likely it's a bearing. Of course, it's hard to say what bearing it is. Have you noticed this roaring to be more prominent while turning a corner? If so, it's definitely a wheel bearing. Could be your transfer case input bearing. Get underneath and grab your shaft and yank it hard (sounds naughty, I know) from side to side, right at all the inputs. If you feel/see some slop, then you may need one/some of these bearings replaced. Also, see if the noise persists when you put it in neutral while the vehicle in motion.

Or, take it into a good shop and have them diagnose it. Most of these bearings are easily serviceable by any competent mechanic.
