Default 98 Disco Radio Code Entry

Hello, I have a nifty old 98 Disco LE with the Pioneer in-dash cassette and under-seat 6 CD changer. A new battery under the hood has led to silence in the cabin.

The word "Code" comes up on the LCD screen, but it doesn't seem to accept the code numbers I put in from the Owner's Manual. It just beeps once and laughs at me. Then there's the "3 strikes you're locked out" thing to add to the aggravation.

Is there a sequence of function key entries that must be done to put my code in? The manual isn't very clear on the exact procedure.

Thanks in advance!

Go to the nearest dealer and get the correct code. There's no trick to putting in the code, just punch in the numbers.

I didn't find this to be very straight forward. If you have entered the wrong code you'll need to wait for a period of time in order to input the correct code. If I recall, once I finally got my correct code from the dealer based off my VIN, I left my radio on for a while then went out to the car and put it in.
