Default 99 D2 No Start P1884 P0335 P0336 & Pending P1668

Problem started out of the blue - truck's been running great for a year. Then today, hard to start in the AM, got it going, drove for one block, M&S started flashing, rough running, then stalled. Now it won't run. It will turn over once in a while but will only run for seconds, then stalls. M&S flashing through all this.

Codes: P1884, P0335, P0336 and "pending" P1668. (BTW, what's a "pending" trouble code?) Let the car sit for an hour, checked battery terminals (clean, solid connection) and it started right up. Then seconds later sputtered and stalled. Cleared codes and they come right back when I try to start.

Any suggestions from the community? Thank you!

Update: Battery is good. 14.5 at idle, 12.5+ with engine off and when starting.

The good news is it started this morning and I was able to drive it home with the M&S lights flashing. At least now it's in front of our house and not a neighbor's. After parking, the M&S lights went out and it idled just fine. Turned off and re-started with no problems. Trouble code P0335 was still there and P0336 was pending. I cleared the codes and they have not come back.

I haven't driven the car more than to my house. I'll take it on a few short runs today and see if the trouble codes come back.

Default Help

So I’m having issues w my 03 disco II and this code P0335 along w P1590 & P0134
All came up. I just replaced the CPS maybe 6mths ago?! Also it’s been going into limp mode, got new battery, tried to get new positive battery cable but couldn’t find one had to buy a splicer but the cables going in are much bigger than the holes given, I made it work best I could but still feel like just a bad connect there somewhere, also replaced the starter last summer and it went bad so (it had a warranty) replaced it ystrday got new plugs and bought the wires today and went into limp mode 3x on a 30min drive, worse than prior to new plugs and starter. So my question is can a bad connect cause the CPS code to come up in error? Or is it possible my new CPS is already bad again? Thanks in advance!

How will I know if it is bad? Is there something to look for?

First thing to look for is proper gear position indication on the dash. Another symptom of a faulty x,y,z switch is getting the M&S lights and limp mode after shifting from reverse back to drive. Usually shutting off engine and restarting will restore to normal until reverse is used again. If you have a code scanner attached you can clear the code/M&S/limp without doing a restart. The switch has a minor amount of adjustment and can be moved by loosening the two mounting bolts.

M&S lights/limp is sometimes caused by low voltage and you need to get your cable situation taken care of.

Yes the cable deal is def a pain. Just not sure how to fix it yet as they said that was then splicer I needed but I just don’t see how. And yes the m & s lights come on but idk about reverse my disco just does it outta nowhere driving can be an hour of driving it kicks really hard like misses gear then the limp mode occurs

And you said proper gear position, made me think bc the Drive is kinda screwy, you have to really make sure it’s in Drive or else it like wont be. Noticed that after buying it and driving it home,
