Default 99 Disco 2 Alternator Bolt

Swapping out alternator on 99 Disco 2. First bolt out, second bolt is super tight -- socket slipped once already and I'm worried I'll strip the bolt. I'm sure I can get it off, but it may strip the bolt along the way. Suggestions on where to buy a new bolt? My usual places don't carry them and the dealer's a bit of a drive.

Help is appreciated.

When you get it out, take it to a Lowes or Home Depot or any auto parts store that has a good selection of metric bolts. You just need the length and the thread size.

Can you take the one bolt you have out up to lowes or home depot? They have a threading chart that you can screw your bolt into and figure out the thread size. They should have something that will work for you. The new bolt can have threads all the way up, just make sure they are the same length.

Thanks, guys. I didn't expect that the local home store would have anything close. I'll check it out today. Much appreciated!

Found the exact bolt required at Home Depot: Everbilt M10-1.5 x 100 mm Zinc Plated Hex Bolt, $1.98 each. (Everbilt M10-1.5 x 100 Mm Zinc Plated Hex Bolt-81748 at The Home Depot) The only difference from the original is the head is larger. Also added a couple 3/8" washers at 28 cents each. While I was at it, replaced the serpentine belt which was in bad shape. Thanks again for the tips!
