Default 99 Disco - hard suspension

I have a 99 Disco ES with AIR suspension and ACE. I find that the front suspension is like what a truck should be, I feel everything and get shudders in the steering wheel from road deformities. The car rolls and pitches to everything. I replaced the shocks and steering damper last year so they should be fine.
How do I get this beast back to feeling comfortable to ride? Can I soften the suspension somehow? I have read in previous answers about replacing the rear air with Coils, how doe this affect the ACE?

There is a sensor for the ACE that can fail, it is cheap to DIY but I do not remember what it is called.
Urban Panzer knows more about the ACE than I do, look him up if he does not reply to this thread.
