Default ABS activates at startup?

Is this a normal condition, my abs activates at startup? Every time the truck is started you can feel the abs activate if you have your foot on the barke pedal. No lights on the dash or anything just the noise everytime.

What year and now many miles? I've never heard of the ABS pump kicking in at start up. Usually the dash light will come on indicating the ABS system is running its self test. THe ABS light should come on at start up and stay on until you hit 5 mph.

I think he may be referring to the brake pedal switch kicking out and making a noise. Mine does this and I assume it's normal.

2001 Disco II with 81,000 miles, I will have to pay attention to the abs light and see what it does, but everytime it is started you can feel what I would call false activation, where the pedal kicks back against your foot.

My '03 does the same thing. Makes a weird noise, too.

Self test.

Flush the brake fluid and see if it gets better.

Dont hold your foot on the brake pedal when you start the truck.

All D2's ABS systems do a self diagnostic check when you start up.

It does not do it every time, just probably 7 out of 10 times I would say. Is there any way I can verify that is normal or not.
