Is ABS Amigo the least expensive ABS scanner?
Yup, sadly. I think it's completely overpriced though.
The dealer here is 180 and the independent shop is $100, ridiculous for just plugging in T4. I also love that they call it "diagnosis." If that's the case I'm going to set up one of those automated blood pressure machines at the mall and charge people $100 for blood pressure "diagnosis."
But depending on what else you may want to do, abs amigo is not the cheapest in the long run. If ABS amigo was like $80 it would be a no brainer but I found $200 to be a little steep.
A faultmate (the new rovacom) is ~$880 for full test-book like capabilities and I think the fault code read and clear only (covers all systems) can be had for around $500-$600. The way I saw it was $200 for something that covers one system and looks like a little of a pain to use or spend more and get something that you can, but don't have to hook up a computer to and covers engine tranny suspension cruise control airbag and abs PLUS all the features of testbook. To me, the latter was the far better deal. If you didn't need full capability now you could upgrade the software later and you can add software for up to two additional Land Rover models if you have more than one.
I figured 4 trips to the dealer and it's basically paid for itself..... in other words It'll pay for itself in a month
IDK, either way it sucks if you ask me.

Buy a Nanocom for about $400, covers all the important systems ABS, ACE, SLS, BCU, ALARM, much better value for money, and when its updated you download it FREE........not like all the other ripp off diagnostic tools out there.
Yes it was "designed" around the TD5 in Italy, but thats because they dont have the V8's. I have had this discussion before, the body systems on a D2 are IDENTICAL whether its TD5 or V8, you guys can get a code scanner for your engines for next to nothing, and the rest will be covered by Nanocom. Mattia (the designer) will be adding the V8 to it as well as soon as he has one to "play" with.
There is a US sellar of Nanocom, I "think" its DAP. The new Bearmach Hawkeye is another option as well.

Except that the Faultmate, at that price, is locked to your single VIN. If you want one that will play with any car, you have to pay (quite a lot) more.
The hawkeye though is locked to a single model not a single VIN. You can pay to have it unlocked for $250 per model which is definitely steep but mine has already cleared my ABS issue and diagnosed a warranty O2 sensor issue (no questions asked after I said I have a hawkeye scanner). So to me it is worth it's (steep) price.
