Default ABS code 114 solved

I tackled a few issues today (transmission pan, again, yuk) and also the Three Amigos. I had a periodic ABS code 114 "Shuttle Valve Electric Failure" that I could activate by braking hard from 30 mph. I removed and replaced the shuttle valves today and was surprised by what I found.

The picture below shows the old shuttle valves. The valves were leaking, and they are worn. I can get an "open" reading on my meter after a few clicks on the valve itself. I replaced the valves, and now the issue is gone. Thanks to this board for the solution!

Thanks! Do you have any more pictures?

Where did you buy the valves?

One main cause for this to happen is from the lack of brakes fluid changes. Brake fluid turns acidic and eats everything.
Make a point of doing a full 3 pint flush, using DOT 4 every 20,000 to 30,000 miles depending on how hard you drive your truck.

Good post Scott.

Good post Scott.
This advice is critical, the fluid I removed from my system was dark brown, and dirty. I made sure to do a full flush with DOT 4 in hopes to curtail further issues.
