I've got a 2004 Disco II, and first Disco I've ever owned. Car has 35,000 miles on it and randomly these lights will come on while driving. My dealer here in Ronoake said that those three lights means the brake rotors and pads need to be replaced. The dealer I used to deal with in Va Beach, said it was something more along the lines of a wheel speed sensor, and that they would need to hook the car up to a computer to figure it out exactly.

Anybody else every experience this problem?

The first guy is blowing hot air, the second guy is giving you some truth. You need to get the vehicle on a Autologic, or equiv. scanner and see if there are any codes stored. The ABS modulator and/or wheel speed sensor acting up can throw those lights.

Are you running factory pads, do they squeak alot, are your wheels covered in brake dust?

The wheels do get covered in brake dust in a matter of days of regualr driving. They squeak a bit after some constant driving but not much. I'ver ordered some ceramic pads for it, but something tells me it's along the lines of the wheel speep sensor. Car goes in on Wednesday of next week.

 

So who's brake pads did you order, need to be carefull when buying some pads because many times they won't work with Rovers soft rotors.
When you install the pads, make sure you buy and use lots of sound deadening material to lessen the brake squeak which is the biggest problem with out wheel sensors when it comes to throwing warning lights.

I too have been getting the same warning lights. I've been reluctant to take it to the Dealer, though, as I suspect they will likely take me to the cleaners. I have notice that my brakes don't work as well as they should. Could this be related? If it is the ABS Modulator or the Wheel Speed Sensor, is that something that has to be done by the Dealership or can it be done by someone else. Sure do appreciate any advice.

I forgot to say, my Land Rover is a '99. I was also wondering if the Wheel Speed Sensor is the same thing as the Sensor ABS D2.

Only a dealer or a small shop can read the brake faults using either a test book or an AutoLogic scanner so one way or the other you are going to have to pay someone to check the system.
Usually a wheel sensor code is what will show up and if you have lots of brake dust and or squeaking that will trip a code, most likely the sensor will be fine and the shop will want to replace it but don't, have them clear the codes and drive it for awhile to see if it comes back, if it doesn't you're in luck.
Are you running aftermarket brake pads?

So I started this topic on behalf of my ABS, TC, & Hill Descent lights.

After the dealer had the car for quite some time, the service writer said there was a voltage irregularity that set off the lights. They said there sems to be no issue regarding the wheel sensor, and if the lights come on again, it may be a check-valve failure somewhere near the ABS brake.

So, I'm not quite sure what to think about all this having to drive almost 50 miles to the local dealer, although the loaner LR3 is pretty cool. I like getting those looks from people at stoplights when they see the air-ride suspension lifting or lowering. The LR3 is cool... but I think overall I like my Disco II better.

By the way DiscoMike, I bought EBC brake rotors (black cross-drilled & slotted) they look pretty awesome. For brake pads I bought EBC Greenstuff. Reviews seemed good for both. When I get the car back, I'll post a picture of the wheel.

If you haven't installed your brake pads yet, make sure you buy some sound deadening spray and put lots on the back of the pads before installing, call it a little extra insurance to help prevent brake squeaking and warning lights.
