Default AC Delete?

So i never use my AC, thinking pretty hard about taking it out. I am aware of the "econo" button and i believe it is supposed to disengage the clutch(if it works) but i still think i want it gone. Does anyone know what belt i would need to use if i do it? Any issue's i would need to be aware of? Any horsepower added would be a bonus.
Thanks in advance.

If you look at belt diagram, tensioner is pushing inside, if ac comes out of equation U need the tensioner to push outside ,so it will require some alteration , which makes u think about reliability issue, is it wort the gain? Hom much U think it will gain? Since it doesnt take much to turn AC when off, Maybe 1 or 1/2 hp at 5000 rpm , or may loose some HP if U R not able to line up the tensioner perfectly. so I don't know..... Is it worth sacrificing road going reliability...

you would have to measure the distance around all the pullys and match a belt there will be no listing #.
if you think it's that much of an issue just unplug the compressor, I will guarantee you the extra 30 pound will not make a difference in your fuel or hp.

Sorry, when I had a second look at diagram I noticed that I goofed up!!! Mistook ideler pully for tension pully (really big mistake had a couple of...drinks....last night) so really disregard my first post (my bad!) so yes U might actually pick up a hp, { drowssap } he is trying to gain hp by eliminating one extra rotating mass and extra friction from the equation ( common practice in race engines using less pullies driven by crankshaft), not gaining hp by loosing weight , so yes you will gain something if u eliminate AC pully.

Why do you think the ECON control does not work? Can't you sense whether or not the A/C compressor is kicking in?

If you are intent on removing the compressor how about fabricating a "dummy" compressor pully? Or perhaps somehow gutting the compressor so it's effectively an idler pully? (I say that having no idea whether or not doing that is in any way practical or possible.)

read my lips, unplug the clutch from the compressor and it is just a big idler.
use the econ. button or leave it plugged in and it will still cycle the compressor to keep the front seal from drying up.

What Drowssap said.

Just unplug your electrical plug from the AC compressor, and you will just have a spinning idler..No 12v power= no clutch engagement.

This:

With the compressor disconnected electrically, it is draining no power from the engine. There is no point in wasting time and effort in removing the whole system - plus, leaving it in will help to make it easier to sell in future.
