Default AC Not working all the sudden...

On the way home today the AC worked fine, then as I got back in the truck a few hrs later to go to dinner it DID NOT work! Te controls all work on it and I can hear a noise everyone once in a while that sounds like the fan trying to kick in. The weird thing is, when I turn it off or a few min, and turn it on again it blows lightly for a few seconds then goes off. Also, I can fell just a VERY small amount of air coming out every once in a while after it is on for a bit. I check the fuses, everything checks out... Where do I need to look next?

I was planning on going on a parkway drive tomorrow so the AC would be nice to have... Is there a quick fix for this??? ***fingers crossed***

I think I covered all the symptoms.. let me know if there is anything else you guys need to know about it.

I have look over everything now, I am pretty sure its something with the fans. I can hear the AC trying to work, but the fans are not blowing at all. Where and how can I get to the fans. How do I check if it is a bad fuse again? maybe I am doing that wrong.

So have you checked the fan fuse?

1.Open the hood, start the trk, turn the A/C on, watch the A/C compressor, does it engage?
2.Look at your electric fans behind the grill, are they running?

If you are to low on refridgerant your A/C will not work, it is a safety thing to protect the compressor. The fix is to go the AutoZone and buy a A/C recharge kit and put in more R-134.
If the compressor works but not the fans then first check the fuse, if it is good then you need new electric fans.

He is talking about his interior fan, not the compressor, he just wrote a misleading post/question.

How can I clear it up then? Sorry for any confusion, Mike, how do I check the fuses on this thing? Our subruban has lights and if its not on, the fuse is out, but I dont see anything like that on the disco. (sorry if thats a dumb question). Also, the fuse for the interior fan is under the steering wheel corret? (it think its like 30A). Thanks for the help guys...

Yes the fuse box is under the steering wheel, look where your knees go and that is where the fuse box is, two screws and it swings open.
According to the Rave CD it is fuse #7 and it is a 30amp fuse.
Pull it out and hold it up to light, the filliment should not be broken. If it is it is blown. Replace it and you should be good to go.
And whatever you do NEVER replace a blown fuse with one of a higher rating. i.e. if a 20 amp fuse is blown do not replace it with a 25 amp fuse. If you do you could start a fire.
If your fuse blows repeatedly then you have a electrical problem that needs to be addressed.

Perfect I will do that in the morning. Is there an easy way to get those fuses out? I tried but my hands are to big! Also, will the ones labeled spares work as a replacement? (one of the "spares" match the rating of the possibly blown fuse)

Needle nose plyers.
Yes. That is why they are there.
You can buy a fuse assortment and carry it in your glove box. I recommend this. It is cheap insurance.
