Accident -- anything I should look for?
So on the way into work this morning I dropped my daughter off at school and prepared to get back on the highway...except that the on ramp I always take was at a dead stop with cars backed all the way up the ramp, and I slammed into one of them. No one was injured, thankfully.
The accident left me Disco undriveable...my ARB bumper (which proved its toughness and still looks great, by the way) was jammed back up into the grill and front of the hood, which buckled. The sids of the bumper dug into the tires, which was the real problem as far as driving is concerned--the Disco still started up and the engines -sounds- fine.
It's now on the lot of a body shop recommended by my insurance company. I'll probably ask my usual LR mechanic to take a look at the vehicle, but is there anything in particular I should worry about and make sure the adjuster/mechanic examines? The body shop will obviously deal with the body damage, but I'm worried that something internally may be overlooked.
Anyone else recovered from an accident like this in their Disco?
Terrible way to start the week...but I appreciate any advice or thoughts.

Don't send your mechanic over, wait and see what the adjuster says. Depending on the cost of repairs, they may total it or agree to fix it. At the point where they decide to fix it, that is where you need to make sure everything is done correctly.
If they go for a total, you will need to research selling prices to make sure you get every dollar out of it.

No, no pictures yet. Didn't have a camera with me and have now spent most of the day dealing with tow trucks, insurance, rental cars, etc. I'll try to post some soon if I can...
ouch sorry to hear about that. Are you wanting to recover it and keep for yourself? Because if they total it and give you a lowsy payback for the damage you could part it out. But if you love it so much you want to repair there are tons of rover sites that can cut the costs of parts and body panels.
Thats crazy I just had a accident a week ago..(No one hurt)Light turned green every one began to go ,car(honda)in front of me started to go...Then stops..needles to say my 04 rover is fine except the middle part of the bumper is cracked, split, gone. But side caps/fog lamps are fine. Any sugestions...Stay factory?Go ARB? Or anyone have a factory plastic/metal bumper they would like to get rid of?.....On a side note driver/ pass noDL....Oh and the honda hurt bad...

That is, if you can afford it.
If not, there are tons of places to get new bumpers.
On my 98 Disco I also had to upgrade springs/susp with the ARB bumper, And I really dont want to go that route. But if there is another option for after market (ARB style) setups I would deff be into that....Just dont know the market place as well as others...

My guess is your vehicle will be totalled. I was rear ended by an explorer when I had my 98 Series I LSE and it hit the vehicle in front of me. Very little damage. My hood and front fender got dented cause my brush guard pushed into it and my rear bumper was dented. She was in excellent shape with only 80k on it and they totalled it saying rover parts are very expensive and few body shops like to reply aluminum. They gave me 12.5k for it and I bought it back for $1500 so I still had another 11k to work with. I went to a wrecking yard, bought $300 in parts, got the hood done and got a paint job and sold it for 8k and bought a Disco II.
Have your airbags gone off? any internal body damage beyond the crush cans? If you have a decent wrecking yard close by you might be able to make some money. But I do thing the vehicle is totalled from an insurance standpoint.
Best of luck,
Fred
