the leak is somewhere by the pump possibly one of the lines hard to tell as the power steering also leaks. I will pressure wash the area where the leak is tomorrow on my way home from work and narrow down where it is coming from. I bought this disco three months ago it was leaking when i bought it and from the looks of it has been leaking for sometime now.Because I drove this for over two months before I started having these issues I didn't think it was the cause. The leak is on my list to do as well is my valve cover leak these things can be pretty needy so far I been able to install new plugs, wires, driveshaft rebuilt along with center ball, and fluid change's for transmission, transfer case, and both diff's. I was hoping to be done for a while thans for the help

No need to replace your valve cover gaskets, just tighten the bolts.
1/4" drive 8mm 12 point socket.
$3 at Sears.

There was a TSB issued for a known leaking problem. Check under the air inlet tube going to the intake. Take loose the tube and lift up and check for fluid all over it's bottom and the pump below. If so, the banjo bolt on the top right of the pump is leaking.

This is a known issue from the factory, where this bolt is not torqued properly. This pump is the ACE pump, and looks like a power steering pump. The official fix is to simply tighten the bolt to spec and check for leaks. If no leaks, that's it. If it leaks, replace the two brass washers(gaskets) sealing the banjo bolt and re-torque/check for leaks.

I think the banjo bolt is 13mm. Very, very, very easy to get to after the air inlet tube is out of the way. Be careful not to over-tighten and deform the brass washers. As I recall, it was something like 12-15 in-lbs?

If it's not the banjo bolt, check the lines to & from the reservoir.

OK found the leak it was leaking where the hose connects to the reservoir trimmed the end of the hose where it connects installed a new hose clamp and so far doesn't seem to leaking. After a test drive problems still persist. I noticed while I was under the hood waiting to see if leak was repaired I could hear a slight tapping noise that would increase when I revved the engine almost like a faint sound of a rod knock as I am closing in on the sound I found that it is coming from the ace pump if I apply pressure on the side of pump and rev the engine no noise when I release pressure the noise comes back. Again the noise is real faint is it normal for a pump to make such a noise. Whats the odds that this could be my problem also remember that on cold mornings ace works great. It is only an issue after driving for about hour or on warmer days. Also the ace light takes a long time appear a good 20 minutes or so after you can tell that ace is not working because of the constant clunking and alot of body sway Thanks again. John
