ACE Pump May be Empty- LOUD Whining
Hey guys,
I recently learned that that "ACE" system on my '04 HSE requires attention.
Today, I had to park on a huge ditch bank. My E-brake held it strongly, so there was no force on the tranny.
Still, when I backed down, my ACE pump starting whining LOUDLY for about 35 seconds. I was in the middle of nowhere, so I drove on after it stopped, and it did fine on the way home.
I just went to fire it back up, and SAME noise. I confirmed once again that it's coming from inside the blakc plastic box under the driver's side doors, and killed it.
Any ideas? Did I make a boo-boo?
THANKS!
Pat

The ACE pump is under the hood, it is just like a power steering pump.
The air compressor for the SLS is under the truck.

Tons of posts on this Pat.
The SAI pump works like a blacksmiths bellows, it forces fresh air into the cats to help them heat up.
Cold cats do not work as well as hot cats, so they force air into the exhaust when the trucks engine temp is bellow "X" degree's.
There is a foam filter on it, when that filter gets clogged it needs to be changed, you can use the foam filter from a lawn mower or from a window a/c unit.
