There needs to a pressure relief valve system in one of them or the flow bypasses the cooler.

Thermostat’s are often completely mechanical so would not have a wire.

I think he meant the temp sensor in the side of the radiator having a wire.

If you want temperature controlled oil cooling, you need a sandwich adapter with integrated thermostat. Stock plugs don't work, because the relief valve is always open (missing piece in the front cover, since '04s were never made with oil coolers) and then oil bypasses the cooler.

Some had the prv, some did not. Typical JLR.

well i was seing a drop in oil pressure sometimes it would read 0 psi, took it to a rover shop cause i had a coolant leak on the timing cover, they said the oil cooler ports are not a good spot to mount the oil pressure sensor, explains why i was reading 0 psi when the weather got cold but 20 psi on the oil pressure sensor port, i only noticed this cause weather arounf here has been - 20 celsius,

Hi Disco,

I know from your other posts you used the Earl 502 sandwich adapter. I think I want to try this when spring comes. What compression fittings did you use for the oil cooler connectionions? I have a used factory oil cooler to install. Lines too if you know the part numbers.

Thanks!

I used these parts in that order:

1) 2x https://products.swagelok.com/en/c/s...ion1Size:14+mm (ebay)
2) 2x https://ph.parker.com/us/en/brass-ho...ngs/126hbl-8-8 (local hose shop)
3) 1x https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-230806
4) 2x https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-220887b
5) 2x https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-220162b
6) 1x https://www.summitracing.com/parts/ear-502erl

The oil cooler tubing is about 0.1-0.2mm thicker than 14mm, I sanded it down until the compression ring fitted.

I have this setup for two and a half years now and no leaks or other problems.
