Advice on Differentials
It appears that the pinion bearing on my front differential is going out fast...I am able to move the front drive shaft (Prop Shaft) off its centerline by about 1/8". This must be where all the clanking noise is coming from on deceleration.
I have found a Front Differential Assembly replacement at LandRoverParts.com for around $350. How much more difficulty is involved if I wanted to bite the bullet and put in a TruTrac differential?

If you buy a used third member, there is no gear set up so if you are at all mechanical, you may beable to install it without going to a shop.
Putting in a new diff like a T.T. involves setting up the gears, making all the proper measurements and installing it. Most shops chanrge around $350 to install a new diff.
Right now, I believe a new T.T. is around $450 plus new bearings.

Thanks Mike!
It the TT a direct replacement for the Stock Front Diff Assembly Third Member? The pictures of the TT online look significantly different than the stock diff assembly. Just curious before I go order one...
