Default Advice needed: best performing winter tires for 16" LR steel wheels

Now that I've acquired 5 elusive RRC114560MUW 16 inch steel wheels for my Discovery 2, I need some guidance on acquiring the best performing winter tires. Ive NEVER bought or used winter tires before. Usually just run BFG K02 tires year round. But this winter I want to try winter tires. Ive looked around the web and on the forum. Not much has been posted on here regarding winter tires since 2013. Google search indicates that the general opinion regarding best performing winter tires goes to Bridgestone Blizzak ws80 or the successor ws90 tires. But my search on Tirerack and Town Fair Tire shows no such tire available for my truck. Bridgestone Blizzak dm-v2 and some cheap Firestones are all that came up. I also gather that the genuine steel wheels I'm using are different specification vs the alloys fitted from the factory. No plans for offloading in the winter months and I do a fair amount of in town driving and occasionally some 4 hour trips on the highway. Ice, snow and water performance is my top priority. Not looking for budget tires and I dont need run flat tires.

Questions:
1: Could I safely run Bridgestone Blizzak ws90 tires on my truck, with these steel wheels and a 4 inch suspension lift?
2: If yes; what size should I go with?
3: Are passenger winter tires superior to light truck winter tires?

Vehicle in question:
2004 Land Rover Discovery 2
16 inch RRC114560MUW steel wheels
4 inch suspension lift
Fully functional TC and CDL
233,000

Haven’t used them myself but I hear good things about Nokian Hakka’s. Not sure if they are made in the size you want. However I thought the KO2s did very well in the snow.

I would say search by size instead of by vehicle. You can safely run just about any tire you want. Double check the load capacity and compare to your trucks weight (divided by 4, I course).

Even the China brand winter tires are cheap and pretty good on the snow
I got a set that came on my forester. You cannot stop that thing in the snow. It’s a complete beast. It will do circles around the disco

I have Cooper Discoverer M&S and they are Greta in snow, but couldn't say if they come in 16, but likely do.

Yes I live in Portsmouth. I work at the shipyard.

Yes I've been told that I can run many different size tires on these steel wheels. Im not an expert on wheels and tires. I dont understand the tire and wheel size charts much.. When I look at a tire catalog I'm overwhelmed with the variety of sizes. I prefer a thin tire but at the end of the day safety is my primary concern. Im willing to pay good money for a really good tried and true winter tire. Just need to figure out the sizing so I can narrow down my options and get the right tire.

I find the KO2s good in the snow too. Not great but good. I keep chains or snow socks with for any just incase times.

Depending on our winter activities this coming cold season I might look to get dedicated snow tires for our D2.

I've run snow tires on other rigs before and find them much better in snow and ice vs all terrain M+S tires.

That looks absolutely perfect, congrats on the wheel find! What size are the tires in the photo?

I'm running 235/85/16 BFG KO2 tires. I'd like to keep using skinny tires if I do fit a set if winter tires, but ultimately safety and functionality are priority. As long as they fit snug on my RRC114560MUW 16 inch steel wheels thats 👌
