Default advice on shock absorbers

Hi guys

i need to replace the rear shocks on my disco 1997 model, standard suspension. Any suggestions on what to fit. I dont want something with a hard uncomfortable ride. i was told TJM XJS is a good make .

Thanks

I would suggest that you use what the majority of us use which are the Old Man Emu, many people also use the Bilsteins.
Why are you replacing only the rears?

Mike,

I was looking at the OME shocks, and there are different load types. We use the truck to tow a 4K boat, which shocks should we use? Also, should the front and rears be the same?

Thanks,

Steve

The rate at which Rovers suspensions settle, many of us have done the springs and shocks, the HD shock, and made a really great ride out of the truck.

The front has gas shocks already, but the rear has the normal oil shock. thet rear is therefore not very stable

Thanks for the information on the shocks. If I am understanding this correctly, I should get the HD shocks and springs front and rear?

I would stay with the OME shocks, they hold up well on Discos.

The HD OME shocks are the way to go, they are not harsh riding, just give lots of control. How many miles on your thruck? If you are over 50,000 I would throw some OME coils on cause your factory coils are pretty soft at this point. If you decide to look into them more I'll send you a name and number to call for all the info you need as well as the bet price on line.
