Default after market door lock parts?

A while back my wife was unlocking her 95 disco with the key and it would just spin in the lock, so she unlocked the passenger door and of course that set off the alarm system. She was on a road trip at the time and luckily she had her remote fob and was able to unlock / lock with that which also turned off the alarm.

When she got home I took the door panel off and could see that the little plastic cam-tab that fits on the very inside end of the lock (where the end of the key sticks out when its inserted) and fits in the notch that turns the locking mechanism, had broken off. It is held on with a little snap-ring. Of course this is not available on its own and I don't feel like buying the whole unit from LR just for that.

Is there an after market replacement for this? Being that these are plastic they must be breaking off other discos too.. If not I guess I can see if the one from the passenger side can be robbed I guess, or try and fashion one from a washer or something.

Oh, can these cursed alarms be disarmed permanently? If so, how?

Going in through the passenger door is not an option as it sets of the alarm, even when opened with the key (whose brainwave was that?)

thanks!

No, there are no after market suppliers, especially for a 14 year old Disco.
Consider Roverlandparts.com for good guaranteed used parts.

You can fix it its just a matter of finding the right place with the right part, or better yet fabricating something yourself.

As for the alarm...I'll get back to you, I have links I just need to find them.

thanks! - took a quick boo at those links, did the spider units come on the 95's? I remember reading about them before but I thought it was the 96-98 models.. I also found another thread somewhere that said if one held the key to the unlock position for 8 seconds (or something like that) it would disarm the alarm too, but I have to get my key working first to try that one out..

I'll check out roverland parts and see what I can find there as well, and tomorrow I'm going to pop that snap ring off and see how difficult it would be to fabricate the part I need.

In any case I'll keep you updated here.

thanks again
