Aftermarket Audio/Stereo for D2?

As I am currently considering purchasing a D2, I was wondering what aftermarket options do I have to modify the sound system?
If I want a really good sound system with aux, how much $ are we talking about? And also, how do I check the compatibility?
Thanks.

The HK system that comes in a lot of them is pretty good (the stock isn't bad either). If all you want is aux, Grom makes a couple of boxes that will add it to the oem setup. For under $100 I was able to add the cheaper <$75 Grom box and this . You do have to lose the CD changer in order to plug the grom in, though.
And, honestly, it works and sounds awesome. Plus, I don't have a stereo that looks to be worth stealing. Also, if you spend a little time, with the way the dash is setup, you can get it to look close to factory install. My wife tells me the bluetooth sounds the best in the Rover out of all of our cars, and I prefer the automatic hookup and sound as compared to the expensive sysyem in my FJ (put in by PO). The one in the fj is better, but I don't crank bass and I'm only listening to 256k mp3s or sports talk radio in the car anyway. Plus, I like know I paid $100 vs. 3k or whatever. Again, it still sounds fantastic! IMHO, save the cash for future problems that may be just around the corner until you get the truck 100% sorted.

Aftermarket stereo options are unlimited. I put a full system in my D2. Sony head unit (by previous owner, actually), sub, sub amp, Boston Acoustics component set up front with dedicated amp, and factory upgraded speakers out of the parts truck I had for the rear.
There are a million single DIN head units on the market that will smack right in with a harness and a mount. Speakers are 6.5", but 6.75" will fit... With some help.

I didn't want to lose the factory head unit - I don't like the neon look of aftermarket stuff - so I went with the GROM. Very happy with it... it has AUX, usb, and bluetooth, and works with the steering wheel controls. Factory sound system sounds great. I swapped the subwoofer for a 10" one when I converted the rear door to a table. At some point I may upgrade the speakers. I've read that the stock amp is plenty powerful.
If I did go with an aftermarket head unit, I'd probably do the double DIN mod here on the forum and put a touchscreen in. But I never will... prefer physical buttons.
