Aftermarket front bumper build.
I still think that the plate that angles down and forward is a mistake - if you hit mud or sand it will dig in like a shovel and drag the front down. Put bluntly, there is a damned good reason why you never see that shape: it is potentially dangerous as it is likely to cause the front to dig in, stop VERY quickly and potentially cause injury to both car and driver.
My coworker's line after seeing that bumper...
"it's not defense, its offense"

you could really induce some damage on things with that bumper

my wife thought it looked like a Styrofoam take out box

If you're driving along, and hit mud or sand that tall, you've just ran off the side of a bridge and you're screwed. The downward angle is really not much different than a lot of the other bumpers you guys have shown me. It's meant as a rock slider. Again, If you're trail riding and have to slide a rock that tall, most likely the rover won't be able to get up it. Not everyone will like this bumper. I'm gonna continue forward and see what it turns out to be.
I know it's big and scary lookin'....I know it looks dangerous....I know that not all of you, or your wives, will like it. It's edges will be a lot smoother and refined when finished. It's not as low as it seems in the picture. The bottom is directly underneath the frame rail. I'm not here to convince you to like it....some won't. Some might. I may never sell one. It's ok. I enjoy doing this type of thing, and I'm not overpaying for what's on the market.

You don't have to hit something fast when driving 2 ton of metal, the weight does the damage.
There are bumpers that are much lower that this one. I'll handle the liability part of things. And, If I whack an obstacle, I feel sorry for it....we'll crush it.
