Default Aftermarket Radio

I'm trying to install an aftermarket radio. It's the Kenwood BT952 hd. I have everything all connected, but I can't fit it back in there. Should I cut out that bracket? If so, how can I do it? I can't find where it screws in and I can't fit my dremmel in there. Ugh. Any advice would be awesome. Thanks!

Good times. There are way too many wires back there. I had to bundle some off to one side and the rest off to the other to get mine in. I have an Alpine that uses the RCA outputs to feed the factory amp through a Metra adapter and a seperate subwoofer amp, plus a lead that connects to an iPod. It can be done!

STOP, dont cut anything. As long as it's a standard DIN size with a cage you shouldn't have a problem fitting it back in. Just carefully make sure you route any wires into the space provided. A bent clothes hanger can help with this.

I have a large in dash DVD unit that was roughly 1/3 longer than the factory unit. Most likely you're running into wires, harness, or RCA cables.

Patience is pinnacle .

it will fit in, just have to move the wires around. As said do not cut!

Hmm, valuable advice. Thanks. Did you all use the stereo mounting cage too? You must have the patience of Job. I'll try it again. Crutchfield told me to cut it out. I suppose that wasn't good advice. I think the problem is the PAC- SWI - that thing is huge (and pretty useless, but I suppose that's a different thread).

It wont fit in at all or you can only get it half way?

From what i remember...been a while since i swapped mine out...but i thought* the stock metal bracket came out and the new radio came with one...dont remember it being that much of a pain. And i also have the PAC- SWI...if you have problems figuring that out search for PAC-SWI and you should find a few threads...the instructions were less than helpful...

I swapped out the stock metal one for the one that came with my radio. Otherwise my single din unit would not fit.

I'm hijacking this older thread but did you ever get that radio in, I'm installing an alpine radio with with PAC unit and its tight. So far it looks like I will have to cut out that metal bracket.

Any advice

Norm

I got it installed and it just required a lot of patience. You can do it. Good luck.
