Default aggravation

So, I know I've been away from the forums for awhile, but when did the sponsors COMPLETELY take over? It's pretty aggravating! There were always ads, but never so many pop-ups and self-imposed threads... I'd gladly pay a small monthly fee to do away with all the blue words that lead to pop-ups in every post. Maybe I should just stick to Dweb, no sponsors there!

Ya I've noticed the ads are getting much worse on this site. They drive me nuts.

Make sure do download AdBlock plus plugin for Chrome. Then you can right click on ads and delete them from your browser

Yeah, it's pretty much an ad-filled experience on my desktop browser, but I don't recall any annoying pop-ups.

On my iPhone there is a pop up that appears at the bottom, but it stays there, so I can pretty much ignore it.

On my Android device I get the bottom ad, side ads, and nasty pop-ups that are difficult to click the "X" on. Almost can't use the forum with that device.

I use the full-site on all my mobile devices. How is the "app" or "mobile site" that I keep getting questioned about when I log in?

Not pop-ups in a traditional sense, but the blue key words that if you accidentally hover over with your pointer/cursor they then have an ad pop-up that takes a few seconds to go away even after you have moved past it. Still a lot of good and useful stuff here, but the ads definitely detract from the overall experience and it seems to have gotten a lot worse in the past year or two.

I'm with ya, just about every time I get on the forum the browser on my galaxy freezes up and I have to exit the pop up or restart my browser. The worst has been when I go to respond to a post I sometimes get a pop up....I'd pay a smallfee to get rid of em,

zg can I download that pop up blocker on my phone?

I'm on both sides of this fence. I do realize that this site and others offer this great experience for free, even though it may cost them hundreds or even thousands per month. They need to pay for it somehow. If it's not ads, then it's a fee. Fee bases sites don't usually last long due to people getting tired of paying fees everywhere they turn. Monthly fees are almost as prevalent as Forum Ads.

But on the other side, I HATE advertising inside my browser. I cannot remember a time when I clicked on an ad inside a site, and I don't think any of those ads affect my purchasing decisions. If I'm looking for something, I go and hunt for it, and I'm very strong willed so nobody will convince me to do something I'm not already wanting to do.

BUT, Google has done a lot of research and found I'm an exception, thus the ads everywhere you look. Some of those YouTube people make 6 figures a year on page hits. Not 100k, but 600k per year. That's a pretty amazing reason for ads. And, that's only what the Video CREATOR makes, just imagine what YouTube/Google makes. I'm sure they don't share 50/50.

For me, because I KNOW that I will not be using those ads, I do block them. I prefer Internet Explorer, so it's harder to find a blocker than if you are on Chrome or Firefox, but ONE does exist, and it works quite well.

Out of respect for the guys that run this site, I'm going to be mum on the name of this blocker, but if you are determined, you can find it.

Here are Before and After examples; Notice NO Blue Underlines and the page loads WAY faster without the ads. I still get the "Featured Sponsors", but not the "Advertising" on the right hand column:
