Air box to fender question
I was wondering if there is a part number or a place to get a replacement for the airbox intake tube that mounts to the inner fender. Mine is in somewhat decent shape but would like to add a snorkel and don't want the flex part of that line to be my weak link. All the junk yard ones I have seen around me are brittle and in horrible condition.

I had a 3inch silicone coupling left over from my Jeep days (when I had a Banks CAI) and on my 99 D2 that part was toast. The 3inch coupling was the exact length however it truly needed to be 3.5inch or larger around in order to fit around the OEM airbox and fender openings. I eventually found a mint unit at a junk yard for 5.00 so I never tried to locate a 3.5inch silicone coupling.
I keep checking pull a part around my area (bham and montgomery) but have yet to find one in decent condition better then mine. I've actually thought about paint the flex part with black flex seal and see how it would hold up. I don't fully expect to need the snorkel nor do I intend on going in water that high since it's not recommended for North American rovers but I think the set up will help with a better air quality in the long run
You had to buy the whole lower airbox to get the flex tube section right? How much did it set you back? I put a few coats of black flex seal on mine recently, worked ok and looks better, not perfect but decent.
The trick with the flex seal was to spray it on and spread it around with a brush or your finger (wearing gloves) if you use the aerosol variety.

It was almost $400!!!! I can't believe you can't buy just that part. It seems absurd but it is what it is. I was planning on taking it off and spraying it with the clear flex seal on the new and old one, after masking it if of course, and then getting the quart of black at Wally World and actually painting/rolling it on. That way I at least have a back up.

Just make the Alex_M cold air intake for less than a hundred and be done.
