Default air to coil question

Hi all,
I am planning an air to coil conversion (have had leak issues and replaced both bags 2X already). I dont really go offroad anymore so want problems resolved once and for all. My question is on the Toolbook and turning off the air system. I dont have one, but know a local LR mechanic who does. Can I do the changeover, then drive it over to him to change the settings? What would I need to unplug first? Sensors, Compressor unit? will it just pop errors as I drive or something worse?
thanks

you should unplug the compressor or it will continue to run, and burn out. The sensors can stay or you could remove them, it doesnt matter. You will get an error light all he needs to do is change your bcu so it read your truck has coils instead of the SLS. If you want you could mail you compressor and sensors to me to keep my SLS running.

Are you sure you have found the real reason for the SLS problems? If you have replaced bags twice, it wasn't the bags so why not get the codes read, find the real problem and fix it so you can enjoy that ride.
If you replace the bags to coils, you will need to buy an entire lift so your truck will be level.

My 03 dropped bottom one day with no warning. I found that the solenoid valve that control each bag had failed. I ended up converting to coil over and removed all air bag components, (bags, sensors, air lines and compressor unit). In my opinion it was the right decision, no more air ride headaches and the ride was near identical. If you want to stick with air ride you will need to check all fittings for leaks using soapy water, your issue is not with the air bags if you have replaced them twice. Double check air lines, if they are not properly secured in the clips they will rub and eventually cause a leak. You can buy a bypass plug that will turn the dash light off or get it reprogrammed to coil over. The light on will not affect the vehicle after the conversion, just annoying. Good luck.
