I buy factory when I can but Napa is 10 minutes from my house and the closest dealership is an hour away. To be honest Wix and Purolator make a filter that is just as good as the factory as far as I can tell (they make many OE filters also).

Also in general Wix and Purolator both make good air and oil filters. The Napa Gold (Wix) and Pure One oil filters are some of the best values out there IMO.

Wix is one of the oldest filter companies, they are credited for inventing the spin-on. The don't advertise much to the everyday Joe. People who's lively-hoods depend on their vehicles use Wix, truckers, heavy equipment operators and the like. Personally I've been using Wix and Baldwin/Hastings for over 30 years.

Default thanks

NAPA and Checker are the only autoparts stores within 150 miles, so I went with the NAPA filter. I drive about 30 miles a day to work on a dirt road and have been changing my air filter about ever 3,000 miles. So we will see how it holds up. Thank you for your input. Cheers

The Wix filter for a D1 (42285) is available from Amazon for $16.50 with free shipping if you order 2.
The Wix filter for a DII (46798) is $18 with free shipping if you order 2.

Don't know about their air filters, but FWIW Champion Labs makes some of the absolute worst oil filters on the market, and some of the best (but the most expensive).
Personally I'd be very leary of a "cheap" champion labs air filter.

Every 3,000 miles? Really? Even driving 30 miles on dirt roads everyday I think you could go longer, 10k easy.
Remember, when a filter gets dirty it wont let more dirt past it will let less dirt past.
This hold true for any filter, oil, air or otherwise.

Agreed air filters should be able to go even 20k miles if you don't live in a particularly dusty environment. Every 3k miles is way overkill. I change mine every 10k mostly out of boredom.
