Default Air ride problem

Hello Guys
I have 2000 Disco2. Having problem with airbags sitting down in cold weather and sometimes after hitting a hard bump. I have no lights for fault on dash. Checked for air leaks in the bags and lines. I next thought is possible relays weak. Had that with fuel pump relay when it got cold out. Any thoughts?
Thanks
Justin

This is exactly what happened to me the last two times.

Once was a cold day, soon as I got home the rear end dropped, and then just recently went over a pothole and the back end dropped.

Mine was setting down at night during the below zero weather we had in Idaho last December. I got a couple of Arnott air springs from Advanced Auto for $240 delivered.

Hi, read this attachment as it sounds like your air springs may have seen better days. That or the NRV on the compressor is faulty.

LR recommend in RAVE replacing every 5 years but if they are anything like 10 years old you've been lucky. I've just replaced both my rear air springs and painted the the location points. The air springs weren't acting up but the outer skin had cracking on them both and the lower fixing bands to the pistons were both very rusty. It took about 8-9 hours including painting. It's not a difficult DIY job just time consuming. Follow the attachment and it should go without a hitch but also read the RAVE manual as well.

TIP: Ensure you get 4 new clips for the top fixings as they fall to pieces from rust corrosion when you prise them off.

I appreciate the info. I checked for leaks in the bags. Bags are about 1 year old. Can't find any leaks. There are not any dash warning lights. I tried changing out the relay user the hood. The vehicle stayed up last night and driving this am. Seems like I could hear the compressor running this am when I was on a hill. We should see if that made a difference. Any other advice?

So what exactly do the clips do in relation to leaking air? Maybe this will help me figure out my puzzle.

Hi, if the air springs (bags) are that new it sounds like a non return valve problem with the compressor unit. These must be kept spotlessly clean internally. Made by WABCO I believe the same maker as the ABS system. Also check for leaks where the tiny pipes enter the air spring.

The clips have nothing to do with any air leaks they hold the top of the air spring in place. They invariably need replacing when new springs are fitted as they are thin cheapo spring clips and rust away over years.

Is there a way to clean the valves? Or where do you get new ones? I have come to the conclusion that the relay under the hood may be weak. I have drove all mourning and lunch with no problems. usually it sets down.

Hi

The NRV's are contained within the compressor unit (see video). There is an air intake filter behind the rear drivers side light (you need to remove the light for access). IMPORTANT - don't get any dirt into the air system as that can causes problems.

It may be worth a call to this guy about the compressor unit and your problems.

He advertises on Ebay as well.

I think that Anglo British or Rovers North also sell the compressor parts and have produced a video on repairs.
