Another update. I am trying the trick whare you put atf in the oil for a minute or two and hopefully it will clean up the valves enough. wee will just have to wait and see. anyways, I put a timing light on it, just for poops and giggles.....guess what? I put the light on number two and took note of the rate of spark, then on number 6....poof, what a differance, number 6 is firing twice as fast as number 2, I didnt put the light on any other wires, just wanted to post this up to see what you guys thought of it. I have this same question posted on a couple of forums in hopes that someone will have an answer, thanks for all the help so far.

You put the ATF in instead of motor oil, idle for 20 minutes and then do a full oil and filter change.

I have tried the atf trick, verdict still out if it worked as I havent been able to test drive yet. What about the spark though? could it be related to the valves somehow?

Sholdn't be related to the valves. Either your ECU is messed up, on of your coil packs is bad, or your inductor for the timing light is getting to close to another wire, reading that spark as well....

I am thinking the ecm is going out. I have thought that for a while too. Perhaps a trip to a stealership for a recode is in order. Seriously, I am about out of patience for this truck, I have done alot to it and still have the same issues.

Its been a while. Here is an update. I have moved to upstate NY so the truck work was put on hold. There is a head bolt that is stripped. I cant say for sure weather it was by me or a PO. What is the tourque on these darned things? So I need to get the bolt out to change the head gaskett and do a valve job. There was / is a TON of gunk under the valve covers, I can only imagine what it looks like under the rest.

So, I changed the head gasket, cleaned the snot out of the heads and reassembled everything. Started it up and it ran fine for a few minutes. I also got a new alternator.
It ran for a few minutes fine, I was happy, then it started to run rough again and I was sad. It will idle fine, then surge, then fine again. it will also run high while in drive, like I need to put extra effort on the brake for it to stop. Any thoughts?

Yeah, me neither. The SRS light is on and it blinks.
