Default All those with GPR Longblocks - In Here...

If you've installed one of the engines, complete with Stage 2 camshaft, is your idle quality noticeably rougher than stock? Mine is. In fact, I just took the truck to a local LR independent shop, and they said all sensors and operational parameters (fuel trim, MAF, O2 voltage, etc.) are dead on. They diagnosed the problem as internal engine imbalance.

So I'm wondering if it's truly an imbalance issue of some sort, or if it's simply a rougher idle due to the cam. Don't get me wrong, it's not terrible. But at idle, particularly when the A/C compressor engages, you can feel it. Other than the idle, the engine has been terrific. Runs great, doesn't use oil.

Any others with similar experiences?

Just completed a complete GPR installation - Complete motor from lower intake plenum to oil pan, including new oil pump and front cover.

Only have about 600 Miles on it so far.

Runs perfect, no roughness, no oil consumption, no leaks anywhere...

Very happy!

How aggressive is the Stage 2 cam supposedly? Have you contacted GPR personally?

TT, good to hear yours is working out well. Aside from the idle issue with mine, everything else has been great.

Honda, I don't know the cam specs, so I can't really say how aggressive it is. They claim a 15% bump in power, but I'd say that's probably a bit optimistic. And based on TT's experience, it sounds like idle quality isn't really affected.

I have contacted GPR. Mike has said he'll do everything he can to make it right. He's been a stand-up guy, so I trust that he will. But before doing anything drastic, I really want to confirm that the idle is rougher than it should be, and there's no other cause except for an imbalance.

I'm working with GPR to troubleshoot a few things. I'll keep the thread updated if anyone is interested.

A cam, no mater how radical can not effect the MAF, and shouldn't effect the 02 voltage. There is something else wrong.
Do you have any fault codes? Do you have a real time scanner so you can track the 02, MAF and timing?

I have not noticed a rougher idle on my GPR engine.
Almost time for an oil change.

I also have the GPR block. If anything, the idle is smoother than the original block.

Mike, I think you misread. MAF and O2 operation is normal per the LR shop that looked at the truck. My only sympton is rough idle, which is beginning to seem out of the norm based on the other three GPR owners.
