Default Alternatives to Arnott SLS Air Bags?

What's a good alternative to the Arnott air bags for the rear SLS?

Just went through 4 new ones that have separated at the top metal ring while trying to install and calibrate the system. A 5th one came with a bent mounting post. Quality seems to be going down with these.

Is Dunlop good? Genuine seems to be overly prices at $360-$420.

That’s odd

Are you making sure they’re not twisted when they’re inflating?

Even still they shouldn’t be splitting like that… I put two are not on mine about a year ago and they were great. Interestingly the date code on both of mine was 2014. I was worried about rubber degradation but I guess it’s fine. Do you have a date code on yours?

Yeah, one of the bags seems fine so far. My mechanic is currently installing them as he was already doing some other work on the truck. I'll check with him to see if he's making sure they aren't twisting on inflation. First bag was dated 06/18, the rest have all had recent dates as he's been getting me replacements each time one blows.

Dunlop has a good rep with Range Rover P38 owners. i assume the quality translates to their air bags for our Discoverys.

Dunlop is good, but doesn't the Arnott stuff have a darn good warranty???? They used to really stand behind their products!

Yeah, they seem to have a good warranty but I'd rather have some bags that are reliable and don't need replacing often, that is if their quality control has gone down the drain.

Also, I'm not sure how their warranty works if you purchase from a 3rd party and not direct. My original set was purchased via ebay through a parts company. They're replacing the faulty one. The rest have come from Worldpac who is also replacing the faulty ones. Apparently this specific distributor has had to replace around 11 recently.

I'm sure I'll eventually switch to springs but I've come this far in reinstalling the SLS that I figured I'd try to get it to work at least for a little while.

tried arnott bags/struts in my RR... in my experience...they 'are not' to be used... terrible.... ended up with AB's 'oem' strut/bags which were so much better (compression/rebound/and bearing!)

Ok, it looks like I'm experiencing what you did now...

Just confirmed a 6th bag blowout. Swapped the 1 good one to the side that kept blowing out. Installed a new one and it blew while the good one had no issues.

It's definitely a manufacturing issue and nothing related to my pump (also replaced that once).

Going with Dunlops now to see if those fair better. If so, I'll keep my one good Arnott as a spare.

Swapped over to Dunlops and no issues.

I'd steer away from the Arnotts for now as there seems to be a manufacturing defect with a bunch of them.
