Alternator - Super-size options?
#11
Well, I figured if I was to replace mine, I might as well get a little more bang for the buck if there was something out there that would do that for little or no difference in price. Also, thinking of a dual battery setup, extra lights and some extended night trail riding, and thought it would not hurt. Would the higher amperage alternator not allow the battery to recover faster if accessories and lights are run and keep up with the draw better and support the dual battery setup better than the OEM 130A alternator?

200 amp custom RR alternators.
Good find.
People with lots of amps in the truck and sub speakers and a few extra
batteries will appreciate these..
On my D1 - I have a RR alternator which may be 150 amps.
I forget.
Did not need 150 amps. Guess it may come in handy if I am jumping another car. Or if I put an inverter in.
200 amps..
12V * 200 amps = 2400 watts.
2400 volt amps / 120 volts = 20 amps at 120 volts.
Crap batman, that's a lot of amps at 120 volts!
Bright flood lights.
A 2000 watt heater.
electric chain saw
You could almost use the rover to power some of the house if the
power goes out in the winter.
In the winter, just the cold weather may keep the alternator cooled off when it is generating 200 amps.
Of course, this is probably at 1000 RPM or more.
