Default Another homemade safari rack build

Well as the title says I'm setting about to build my own safari rack for under $300 total. Size: 58.5" wide; 89" long; 17" tall. I finished the uprights tonight. They're made from 3/16" x 2" flat bar cut to 17" length. Everything will mount to the drip edge like normal. I made the outer clamp piece out of 1/8" x 2" cut to 7.5" in length. The lip is 1" deep with a bent offset to clear the channel better. The 3/16" flat bar has two holes drilled and threaded (3/8"-16) at 2.5" and 5" from the bottom edge. I have to get a spacer that's right at 1/4" thick (Will probably use a standard 3/8" nut) to prevent the drip edge from being excessively pinched/deformed.

If anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears.
The basket portion Will be made from 1/2" and 3/4" EMT conduit.

I found some dang heavy duty 3/4" conduit clips (used to hold the conduit to walls) that I plan to weld to the rack for light mounting points (4 forward, 1 alley light per side, and 2 rear) I've got 4 relays that I'm going to use to wire the lights (2 relays for the four fronts, 1 for alley lights, and 1 relay for the rear lights). I found a DiscoI three switch bezel that I put three DI locking switches in. It mounted right where the ash tray went under the A/C controls. I'll have another opportunity to work on it Tuesday. After everything is completely welded up, wired up, and test fitted I intend to get an etching primer and a flat black to paint everything (hopefully the next weekend).

I do know the warning about welding galvanized conduit. I dip the ends in acid and sand.

Please anyone with a good suggestion please chime in.

Last thing. I am going to drill and thread the uprights 3" from the top so I can make brackets that would hold a shovel / axe, Jack, etc....

one suggest would be to slug the inside of all your connections before you wield them.
