Default Another question on low idle after motor swap

I just swapped out the motor and found that the motor is sitting at 200 rpm at idle and once in a while will stall. Any ideas? Thanx

In my humble opinion it is because the ECU is using the parameters of the old engine and needs to relearn the "new" engine.
If it runs well enough to drive then drive it.
Of course I am assuming you have everything hooked up correctly and no vacuum leaks etc.

Maybe your IACV is dirty?

Make sure you did not forget to plug in the idle stepper motor or IAC.
I guess you would get a code if you did not plug that in.

IF you are at 200 rpm, then the IAC is not stepping open and closed in a "closed loop" condition.

Did you change the plumbing of the Idle motor? As I recall it sits on two rubber pipes or hoses.

Could not hurt to unplug and plug the plug back into the IAC. May not be seated correctly.

Also - check fuse.

There is talk of the #2 fuse under the hood. Check that one too.
For whatever reason, your stepper motor in the idle control unit is not stepping under control of the ECU.

I would look for codes - even if your CEL is not on, there can be pending codes which could lead you to the problem..

I swapped out the IAC with the old one but no difference. The plug is clean with no problems. The motor really takes a dive in the idle when I touch the brakes. Seems to just drop almost all the way to 0 rpm. And sometimes dies.

That sounds like a vacuum leak, possibly in the power brake booster which is vacuum operated, stepping on the brake could be making the leak bigger. Quick way to test is to disconnect the vacuum line from the brake booster and plug it off ( the line, not the booster). if the problem goes away, you have your answer (bad booster).

How about fault codes, you should have some showing up?

The line coming from the booster is fine and no codes.

I was thinking an internal vacuum leak in the booster, not the line itself, by disconnecting the line and plugging it(the line not the booster) you're eliminating the booster from the equation.

Blocked off booster but not the issue. Did get a couple codes though. Cyl 8 misfire and random/multiple misfires, awesome. Swapped TB out with original since that was never an issue but no change.
