I recently noticed a '99 DII sitting in a salvage yard I pass on the way to work. It took me a couple of days, but I got around to calling the yard to find out what good parts might be available. Imagine my HORROR and DISGUST to find this apparently perfect DII (there was no visible damage) had been CRUSHED as a 'Cash for Clunkers'.

Who in their right mind would classify a perfectly good LR as a clunker?! The mind boggles and the stomach turns!! One has to wonder how many other poor Discos met this end and what the long term impact will be on decent salvage parts.

 

there were a few people had seen that went to that program. we were all talking about it last year when it went into effect.

Can't blame Obama entirely. But you can blame him entirely for taking a stupid idea Bush pushed in '92 that was the same sort of stimulus idea Bush pushed later in his administration.

 

GOOD POINT Fireman about the salvage parts....never even thought about that. I teared up going through the Land Rover section.

And you guys should be careful about blaming Obama for anything negative that's happened under his presidency. All of that's all Bush's fault AND it makes you a racist...

It is not all Obama's fault, yes he needed to sell cars but the people that traded in perfectly good used vehicles were just dumb since they got hardly anything for them. The bigger issue is the fact that they destroyed the engines to scrap them, when the rest of us understand it is better for the enviroment to keep a Land Rover running than to rush out and buy a Prius.

All I can say is it did keep some people working in the auto plants so that is all the good I can see that came from it.

 

The temporary fix for the auto industry was just that - temporary. The US auto industry is diseased and inbreed and should have been allowed to die its deserved death rather than sucking off the American taxpayer.

It broke my heart to read that list; it was like a victim list from a holocaust. Don't get me wrong, there were plenty that needed to go, but there were plenty of fine pieces of automotive engineering that were sacrificed to get people to buy soulless pieces of plastic crap.

Sorry, I will get off my soapbox now... just a little morally offended.

 

If some soccer mom retard traded a Land Rover in for the Cash for Clunkers program it's hardly Obama's fault. A **** ton of Chrysler products got traded in on that program too and those are real piles. Damn Republicans. Amen Antichrist Bush sucked *****.
