Yes it certainly does. However, what the hell does that thing do? And where is it in the schematic you posted? I've looked over that diagram in my manual a number of times, so I'm familiar with it, but don't know which circuit it is or the function of the part as it is not in the major components listing of the CC section of the manual.

Unless you've done some work/buggering on your steering lately doubt the small components/contacts in it would be produce much sound if any and wouldn't come from below the dash. But ya never know?

An upper column tube provides for the location of the steering lock and ignition switch and also the steering switch
gear and a rotary coupler. The rotary coupler provides the electrical connection for the steering wheel mounted airbag,
switches and horn. The upper mounting bracket has two slots, a slotted metal bracket is held in each slot by four resin
shear pins.

Hmmmmmmmm...
Methinks you guys are on to something that might be a little bigger than a BOING noise.
- My cruise doesn't work yet the light comes on the dash and I've verified the pump, plenum and hoses
- Radio controls don't work (now this is most likely as I've not programmed the unit with the new head unit I put in, but still makes me think
- I made a post about a grinding noise a few few weeks back that ended up being this:
All this leads to maybe this being something. I know it's not the same component, but this could be leading to something bigger...
