Ooh, his one could be fun. Hey, post this to Discoweb and see what happens...

I’m on the side of the fence where Dexcool is a fruet of the deveeel. 50/50 green stuff (Prestone is the flavor of the week) and a bottle of water wetter seems to be working just fine for me.

I might suggest getting one of those suction tools for the bleeding process as it makes things way easier to get air out of the system.

It is all about gaskets and leaks Dexcool will react with some silicone and other materials creating an orange/brown goop. And it does not play well with other antifreeze products or additives, you need stuff that expressly says safe for use with Dexcool.

BUT going green is not always simple either, you want something for use in Aluminum engines they are not all compatible with that requirement.

Mine still has Dexcool in it with no issues, I will change it out in the spring and go to green simply because green is easy to find everywhere, Dexcool sometimes is not. Replacing the Dexcool means if I have a catastrophic hose failure, I do not need to worry about if the coolant I find is Dexcool safe or not.

I've been using bmw blue since thats what I normally have on hand for my other cars.

If you currently have dexcool in there then yeah flush that crap and use any AL safe coolant.

I use Pentofrost SF, which is VW/Audi G13. I use it in my Audis. It's a great option.

Short answer is anything but orange. Use the cheap ****. Antifreeze is what it is. You can advertise it anyway you like but that is just lipstick on a pig.
