I don't think you need a nanocom to reset in this case. A generic reader should do the trick. If you're able to get it with a generic reader, I can bring my nanocom down when I visit family next week. They live in the south bay area if that's convenient for you.

Thank you so much for your offer. I will take up on your offer. I was hoping to be able to get rid of all engine codes and get the IMs ready for the smog test, but it does not look like I am going to make it by this Saturday. I bought a Icarsoft scanner on ebay and I got it in the mail yesterday. I immediately hooked it up to the ODB connector in my 2002 D2, and the scanner read Engine Bosch Motronic EMS is not fitted ! My Antibrake and SRS system are fitted. Heck ! my BCM is fitted, but not my ECU ??? Please see enclosed photos. What does it mean by "not fitted" ?? Is my EMS or ECU connected or fitted to the engine??? is my EMS broken or not connected???? I called Icarsoft company, and of course No one picked up my call. I am still in the dark. My truck is running well except it kep throwing a MAF code.

Is your key on the second on position (ignition)? Also make sure that you have a good battery charge and a good OBD2 connection. Sometimes the connector can be a little fussy

Re-seat the MAF connector as well...they need to be FIRMLY connected.

If you still cannot get the icarsoft to work you could also try going to your local auto parts store (orielly, autozone, napa) and they should have a OBD2 scanner that can check/reset emissions readiness.

Key was on in the second position. I also had the engine running while performing the test. Same end result - EMS or ECU is not fitted (Not connected ??). I will unplug and plug in the ECU connector and see what happens.

I usually don't have the engine running but I don't think it would effect the ability to connect. Sounds like something else is up with your connection. You can also try unplugging the battery for 15 mins to reset that way.

I am going to try that next. Disconnecting the battery and touch the two battery cable terminals together and wait for 15 minutes.

Andino, I will PM you with my cell phone for meeting up with you and your nanocom and see if that may help out alot. Someone on the forum told me that my icarsoft scanner may have an issue an it may need multiple updates to get it to be able to "fit" properly and read the ECU.
