Yeah, I don't know how I feel about a supercharger that isn't belt driven or made in China for that matter.

I saw a real "electric turbo" installed on a 2000 camry a few years ago. It had an electric fan with 8 12v batteries in the trunk... i tried to find a link or a video but i couldnt locate it...there were performance gains but it completely defeats the purpose if your going to dump another 400lbs of plastic and acid in the trunk if you ask me...

i did however come across a few articles about manufactures switching to electric turbos (but not like the one linked above), they want to use the heat from the exhaust and convert it into energy to spin the turbo, they say it will be more efficient and get rid of the turbo lag.

WRX...electric turbo
Next Subaru WRX to use electric turbocharger?

First off, I don't like the idea of things wired directly to my battery. Second, you could probably get the same results by creating some type of ram air/cold air intake system, then porting your intake manifold to create a turbine effect.

I know a guy who used to race cars, they had a dirt race track in a field, he and his friends raced Beretta's and Lumina coupes, etc.
They had to be bone stock engine and trans wise, but you could lighten it, cut off the exhaust (although removing the cat actually cost them power) and they ran 110 octane racing gas.
Anyway he cheated and put a small fan into his air intake tubing, it was a 300cfm fan and he swears up and down that it added power, he won more races after the install than before.
I drove his car, the fan was on a switch, turning the fan on or off I could not tell a difference.
