Default Any tips to change rear wiper on DII?

Should be easy but I tried for about 30 minutes and had someone else try. I finally got it off but I broke it off...the little plastic piece on the blade that snaps into the assembly (the cross piece) is still in the bottom wiper assembly part. I have a new blade but can't put it on. Kinda ridiculous if you ask me. I had two other people look at it that work on cars and neither could figure it out. Maybe my assembly is just screwed?

mine just pulled off and the new one pushed on...not complicated like the front ones. Are you over thinking it?

yeah well like I said I tried and tried and pull on it pushed on it that and messed with the little button looking thing for 30 minutes. Had two other people do the same. I changed the fronts no problem they took 30 seconds. This back one is a b****

In picture three you can see the gap in the old blade where the cross piece broke off. My garage isn't as bad as it looks but we just moved and this is our 4th garage bay and was 100% storage before I bought the rover and I haven't had time to organize anything in there. The pictures are horrible with zero light and using the iPhone I know but maybe they'll help. I haven't found my D90 since the move.

Pull your spare tire off so you can swing the arm out and actually see what you're doing.

I turned the car on and turned it off leaving the wiper stuck in the up position when I actually worked on it. I could see it 100% and it did me no good. I'm taking it to Rover today anyway to pick up a few filters and I'll get them to help.
