Mine is a 1995 E300d. N/A, straight 6, runs like a top.

Not fast. That's the Ducati's job. They do quite well.

Most of my benz tools are for the OM606.91x engine groups, so they won't be much help to you on the 300CD.....sorry. But those OM617 engines are about tough as hell if you take care of them. I used to have a 1984 E300d turbo that was a wonderful car.

I use it for my DD, built like a panzer, and has carried many a load from point A to point B. In fact, it carried home my current transfer case in the trunk.

Your amigo is going out in a few.

Once I have it back I'll post it up for rent in the stickies....

And yes, too many tools is like too much money. Probably not happening in my lifetime.

Uh, that's a spaceship! Hahaha I bet it beats my 0 to 60 by at least 20 seconds. Hahahaa. Nice car!

I'll be sure it is on its way back same day or next day, depending on when it arrives.

I love the benz D's. The 617 is just amazing but so is a 606! I got a spare 617 (still have it) for a Disco implant but ended up getting a rover 4.6 redone just because of the technical hurdles on the rover end.

The only tool I just don't have that is speciality (that I've needed so far anyway) is bent wrenches for valve adjustment. I bought some cheap wrenches from harbor freight, heated them red hot, stuck them in a crack in the driveway, and hit them with a hammer. It almost worked.

I'd have loved to see the wrench-bending. Most 617 owners have no clue as to valve adjustment, and just run those poor things into the ground. I've seen a few of them sold with "dead cylinders" that just need a valve adjusting and then they run for another 200K.

Best source is that joker Ken @ mercedessource.com...his stuff is mostly modified harbor freight, but if you just work on your own car, his valve wrench kit does the job nicely.

If you have a bunch of extra money weighing you down, there is always Stahlwihle...I own some of their tools now, which are flawless and priced accordingly. Last socket I bought from them was $98+ shipping for a 3/8" drive.....ON SALE. Thats not the handle. Just the small socket. Qty: 1 Ouch.

Anyway, your amigo is out, anyone else who needs to rent mine, just shoot me an email.

My beer fridge thanks you for your generosity!

Isn't this a Rover forum? This thread is pretty Benz-heavy.

I used Harbor freight wrenches and they gave me replacements when I broke them! I adjust the valves at every oil change. I don't know how the hell they get out of adjustment but they do. I watch all of Ken's videos on YouTube. He's a phenomenon.

Anyway, I veered into Benz territory only because the perfect marriage is a Mercedes Rover or a Land Benz, in my book. Unfortunately they are harder to marry than a unicorn and a donkey.
