I race snowmobiles on asphalt 1/4 mile and we use Snap On, use it a lot! It is pricey but NEVER EVER FAILS and does everything, battery life is great. We change clutches and yank engines and need "for sure" tools as next race depends on it. That's just my experience.

I haven't used cordless much only borrowed the occasional impact wrench. I personally found them gutless compared to pneumatic impact tools and the batteries ran out far too quickly for sustained usage. Other people may find differently but now I stick to pneumatics even away from the compressor using a diving bottle and airline running at 90-120psi. Never fails. It's also very good for blowing up the big capacity LR tires. It's a quick dodge we inherited from years of motorsport in badly serviced crass race paddocks. If using cordless away from a power source I'd recommend a small generator or a 12v rotary converter run from the truck battery, but of course your need the truck engine running in the first place.

I use a cheap harbor freight corded impact..its bulky for engine work but for removing rusty suspension bolts and what have you it has been excellent.

I think I paid under $50.
