DNR - Silver Lake State Park Information

I'm looking at this area for off road driving fun. Has anyone here been there? Any advise on what to do prior to going? Can I get everything there like flag, permits, vouchers? Anything to do to my stock truck first?

I've heard people talk about going there and know weekends are packed so weekdays are better.

 

You will need a flag, get that in advance so you can figure out how to attach it.
Bring a 12v air compressor and a tire gauge, you will need to air down to about 15psi.
Permits and such you can buy there.
Yes weekends are PACKED!! and the wait can be hours upon hours to get in.
Bring a picnic lunch, if you leave you have to wait inline to get back in.
I have yet to go, but I have a cousin who goes and he has told me these things.
Bring your camera.
Bring a recovery strap, if you get stuck the tow truck is hundreds of dollars to pull you out.
