Default Anyone fixed the clear coat peeling?

I got the normal clear coat peeling on the roof and hood. I was wondering if anyone has just wet sanded the clear flakes flat and shot some clear over it? I've watched some youtube videos, some good and some bad results.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Leo

If it's just in the center of the hood, you might just cover it with a black hood protector from Rovers North or AB. The roof might be a different story, maybe a lift kit so you can't see it....

Attempting to only sand the clear off without cutting through the body color will be very difficult. I like the hood decal suggestion and then wax the roof to protect the color coat and don't worry about it.

If the clear coat is peeling, chances are it won't stop. Best way is to remove it and start over. you could try sanding and spraying over it, but the new clear coat may just make the older stuff bubble up and peel faster. The decal or a vinyl wrap is probably the cheapest solution.

I've got the clear coat peeling on the roof also. was planning on sanding down to bare metal, prime, paint, clear coat. should I be concerned about bubbling up?

If you've prepped to bare metal and used quality paint, why would you be concerned about bubbling?

I have peeling clear coat on the front quarter bumpers, reckon it's caused by stone chips, rain and very hot sun. The clear coat on my Pajero hood and roof are suffering from the same, very hot sun also.

Avoiding paint bubbling after repainting is mostly a question of using the right paint, and the right pre-painting preparation. going down to the bare metal might be a bit extreme, but is one way to keep the old paint from bubbling through.
